The role involves implementing cost control measures, conducting regular cost reviews, and collaborating with production and inventory teams. Candidates with 5-6 years of experience in cost accounting or financial management, including at least 3-5 years in a supervisory or managerial role within a manufacturing environment, are preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the preparation and analysis of cost reports and financial statements.
- Conduct regular cost reviews and variance analysis to ensure cost efficiency.
- Implement cost control measures and recommend cost reduction strategies.
- Assist in developing and maintaining the cost accounting system, documents, and records of the organization.
- Ensure accurate and timely recording of all production costs, including materials, labor, and overhead.
- Monitor and analyze cost variances and suggest corrective actions.
- Lead the budgeting process for the Costing Department.
- Prepare and present annual budgets and financial forecasts.
- Analyze and report on budget variances and assist in developing cost control strategies.
- Supervise the accurate allocation of costs to products and services.
- Ensure proper costing of inventory, including raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods.
- Collaborate with production and inventory management teams to maintain cost accuracy.
- Prepare detailed costing reports and present findings for management review.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements and audits.
- Support month-end and year-end closing activities, including reconciliations and journal entries related to cost accounting.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the Costing Department team.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
- Coordinate with other departments to support organizational goals.
- Contribute to the development of long-term financial strategies.
- Identify opportunities for cost optimization and process improvements to streamline cost accounting procedures.
- Support decision-making with insightful financial analysis and recommendations.
- Work closely with the production, procurement, and logistics teams to ensure accurate cost data.
- Provide support and training to staff on cost-related matters and systems.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Master’s Degree or Professional certification (e.g., CA, CMA, CPA) is preferred.
- Minimum of 5-6 years of experience in cost accounting or financial management, with at least 3-5 years in a supervisory or managerial role within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent leadership and team management abilities.
- Proficiency in cost accounting software and ERP systems.
- Advanced knowledge of MS Excel and financial analysis tools/SAP.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Working Conditions:
- Office-based role with occasional need to visit production sites.
